This Privacy Policy explains how Kin Konnect collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects personal information when you use the Kin Konnect mobile application, related websites, and connected support services.

1. Scope

Kin Konnect helps users connect with trusted contacts, send and redeem invite links, check in manually, use optional motion and step signals to support inactivity monitoring, and receive or send inactivity alerts.

Kin Konnect is not an emergency dispatch service, medical device, or guaranteed life-safety system. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

2. Who We Are

Kin Konnect is the controller for personal information covered by this Privacy Policy when we decide how and why that information is processed. We make the service available to users in multiple countries.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Account and profile information

  • Email address, display name, and Firebase user ID.
  • Authentication provider details for email/password, Google, or Apple sign-in.
  • Session management fields used to reduce simultaneous device misuse.

3.2 Connection, invite, and alert information

  • Invite codes, invite status, and connection records.
  • Alert settings between connected users and inactivity alert history.
  • Confirmation and connection-limit state where subscription caps apply.

3.3 Monitoring and activity information

  • Manual check-in events and monitoring pause status.
  • Motion and step-related signals, including timestamps such as last strong activity time.
  • Device time zone and related scheduling information.

3.4 Notification and device information

  • Push notification token(s) and notification permission status.
  • High-level device/session labels used for account and session management.
  • App and settings state needed to determine whether alerts can be delivered reliably.

3.5 Support, billing, and diagnostic information

  • Support messages you send, including subject, message body, and account details attached to the request.
  • Subscription state such as plan ID, provider, entitlement status, and expiry data.
  • Crash, stability, and troubleshooting diagnostics collected through Firebase Crashlytics.
  • Analytics and operational events used to understand service reliability and improve the product.

3.6 Camera and photo access

  • Camera and photo library access is used to scan invite QR codes.
  • QR decoding from screenshots or selected images is processed on-device for token extraction.

4. How We Use Information

  • To create and secure your account and manage sign-in flows.
  • To enable connections between trusted users and process invite redemption.
  • To support check-ins, inactivity monitoring, reminders, and alert delivery.
  • To maintain subscription entitlements and enforce connection limits.
  • To respond to support requests, investigate issues, and improve reliability.
  • To detect misuse, enforce our terms, and protect the service and users.

6. How Information Is Shared

  • Connected users: Kin Konnect shares the minimum relevant account and monitoring information needed for invite connections and inactivity alerts.
  • Service providers: we use providers such as Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, Firestore storage, cloud functions, messaging, crash reporting, and analytics.
  • Subscription and platform providers: purchases and entitlements may involve Apple, Google, app-store infrastructure, and billing tooling used to validate subscription state.
  • Support and security: we may access and review limited records when needed to provide support, enforce rules, or investigate misuse.
  • Legal compliance: we may disclose information if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect users, rights, or the integrity of the service.

We do not sell your personal data.

7. International Transfers

Kin Konnect is based in the EU, and we configure parts of the backend in Europe where available. However, some of our providers operate globally and may process personal information in the United States or other countries.

  • Firebase Authentication, including email/password login and social sign-in flows routed through Firebase, may involve processing in the United States.
  • If you choose Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, Google or Apple may also process your information under their own global infrastructures and privacy terms.
  • Where required, we rely on contractual, organizational, and technical safeguards intended to protect international transfers.

8. Retention and Deletion

  • We keep account and operational data while your account remains active and for as long as needed to provide the service or meet legal obligations.
  • Short-lived operational records, including alert history and diagnostic or audit data, may be automatically deleted on scheduled retention cycles.
  • If you delete your account, backend cleanup processes are designed to remove related user records such as connections, alerts, support requests, notification tokens, and the main user profile, subject to short technical delays or legal retention requirements.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account or certain data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent for permission-based processing through your device settings.
  • Request portability where required by law.
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

You can also manage notifications, motion access, camera access, and similar permissions through your device settings or the in-app permissions management screen.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including authenticated access, backend security rules, and access controls. No service can guarantee perfect security, and you are also responsible for keeping your device and credentials secure.

11. Children

Kin Konnect is not intended for children below the minimum age required to use digital services under applicable law in their region, unless use is permitted and supervised by a parent or legal guardian in accordance with local law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will publish the updated version here and revise the last updated date. If a change materially affects your rights, we may also give additional notice inside the app or through another appropriate channel.
